About Tracking Your Runner
On Sunday, October 19, the home page of our web site: www.detroitmarathon.com will contain a link for tracking your runner. Just click on that link after the start of the race. You will need a last name or bib number.

What’s Different This Year?

General
  • The Marathon date is October 19th, 2008
  • There is NOT a Detroit Lions Football Game on Race Day
  • We will be using Chrono Track disposable timing chips. Click here to find out more.

Course
A few changes:
  • Mile 1 to Mile 3 - using Fort Street instead of Bagley (Mexican Town) to get to the bridge
  • Mile 15 to Mile 16 - using the Detroit RiverWalk from Jos. Campau to Mt. Elliott, instead of Wight St. to Adair St.
  • Mile 25 to Finish - using Randolph and Broadway to John R instead of Farmer

Tunnel
  • In order to reopen the Detroit Windsor Tunnel at 10am, participants must reach the entrance to the tunnel by 9:40am (not 9:45 as in the past). Once in the tunnel, they must keep up with the “Last Chance Pacer,” or they will need to board the straggler bus.

Expo
  • To be held in the Macomb (center) Hall of Cobo Center
  • Friday, October 17th, from 3pm until 8pm
  • Saturday, October 18th, from 10am until 7pm

Pick-up
  • Effective January 31, 2008, U.S. Customs and Border Protection tightened security measures for international travel. Participants will need to show up in person and provide a Photo ID AND proof of citizenship at the Health and Fitness Expo in order to obtain their race number, packet and t-shirt. For the majority of participants this means either a passport or BOTH a driver’s license AND birth certificate issued by a federal, state, provincial or municipal authority. U.S. and Canadian citizen children aged 18 and under will be expected to present a government-issued birth certificate. Other acceptable documentation and situations are available through the Marathon website.

Relay
  • Eliminating corrals at exchange points
  • [Exchange points are not changing – but leg distances may]
