The
Detroit Free Press is a leader in partnering with charities and organizations in
public-service projects to help improve the quality of life for our community-and
beyond. Here are several ways your organization can participate:
- Charity Partners-Run
for a Reason. CLOSED FOR 2008. Recruit runners/walkers to participate in one of our
events raising per/mile pledges as donations to your organization. We have
various levels of participation. In addition to be listed as a
participating organization on our web site, we'll give you recognition in
the Detroit Free Press, as well.
(click for a link to explain the various levels of participation) (click for a link to our current
Run for a Reason Partners) Check back in November to be a part of our 2009 Marathon. Groups who would like to still be involved in the 2008 race in a non-pledge capacity, might consider hosting a Spirit Station. See below for details.
- Spirit Station. The purpose of a
spirit station is to provide "good spirit" to the participants as they make
their way towards the finish line. Recruit another 15-20 volunteers and we'll
reserve your own location along the 26.2 mile marathon route for you to host a
spirit station. You can dress in costume or organization colors, play music or
just provide good cheer. We'll list your organization's name on our web site
and in our full page Thank You ads that appear in the Detroit Free Press. Send us an e-mail if your
organization is interested in participating.
